When you are more excited for a Indie release than a AAA game

So two major gaming announcements happened yesterday. First, the big one which was Destiny 2’s gameplay reveal. And like clockwork, the gaming press and the gaming community as a whole started jumping aboard the hype train that is the Destiny 2. But I have a question though? Have we forgotten what happened with Destiny? Did we forget that that game was almost unplayable for more than 2 weeks due to server issues? And then more than a month of random disconnection, lag and other connection related issue, that is if you even got past the loading screen. Not to mention that Destiny had a huge content problem at launch. There simply wasn’t enough to do, and what there was only held your attention for a couple of hours. Not to mention the fact that I still can’t get over the fact that Destiny 2 will be utilizing battle.net.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why Blizzard would associate themselves with the lack of quality that is Destiny, considering the quality and polish that Blizzard are renowned for. The other announcement which got drowned out by the Destiny 2 event was Life is Strange 2, which to me at least was a far bigger announcement than Destiny 2. For those of you living under a rock, Life is Strange is from a small independent developer (Dontnod Entertainment). It is a game that places heavy emphasis on story, characters, and adventure, with a touch of the supernatural to make things interesting. It is one of a very small amount of video games that have managed to make me cry. The other ones being The Last of Us and Metal Gear Solid 3, I highly recommend you go check it out. Having said that, the irony is not lost on me though, I am more excited for an Indie title than for a big AAA release and it is happen more often these days….
