Eurogamer has put together a video showcasing the almost five-minute-long loading times in Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. A game mind you which was first delayed from January 2017 to April 2017 and then again for another month after that and this is how the developers justify five-minute-long loading times on the PlayStation 4? And this is how developers treat their fanbase? By dishing out piss poor excuses for the lack of optimization in their latest game? And before anyone jumps in with the retarded “PC Master Race” retort, five-minute-long loading times is unacceptable especially in 2017 no matter what platform it is being played on. Five-minute loading times for an open world game?
Horizon Zero Dawn did not have five-minute-long loading times and neither did Ghost Recon Wildlands. The size of the game should not impact a game’s loading times, but you know what does affect a game’s loading times? Poorly distributed assets, and poorly written code, and not because it is an open world game. Clearly, CI Games who by all accounts are a pretty mediocre developer are making poor excuses for a poor performing game. And the irony behind all of this is people are absolutely fucken fine with this. This absolutely boggles my mind, that people are able to somehow justify this kind of bullshit purely because they are fans of the franchise.
This is what blind fanboyism gets us companies delivering us half-finished/broken products and then excusing it away with: “Ultimately we feel like this inconvenience is rewarded with a comfortable experience once the game is loaded.” Or if we translate it: “Yeah it sucks that you have to wait for five minutes, but we promise the game is good after it loads.” Really!? How are these types of excuses justified in 2017? And the grand irony behind all of this is that we are the ones enabling them and accepting these piss poor excuses. It is time we start voting with our wallets, and the moment they see their bottom line dropping faster than the titanic the quicker they will stop with these bullshit excuses.
[Editorial Note:] Don’t overhype, don’t pre-order and wait for reviews before buying a game….
