Ricky Gervais defends his Caitlyn Jenner jokes

Ricky Gervais’ opening monologue at the golden globes was awesome. It made everyone in the room uncomfortable and he will probably be banned from hosting the Golden Globes ever again, but he gives zero fucks and it’s glorious. I particularly liked the bit where he took the piss out of Jennifer Lawrence demanding pay equality for women who only make $52 million a year, along with the absurdity in blue collar American workers actually giving a shit.

Ricky Gervais defended his jokes in just the right way. Instead of trying to explain to the constantly un-happy social Justice Warriors brigade why the things he said weren’t sexist/hateful/whatever, he instead just said “Offended? Tough Shit.” Gervais spent the last couple of weeks talking about how he was going to deliberately offend people because their reaction is funny, then he offended them, now they react like clockwork.
