Remember Ahmed Mohamed? The teenager who brought a homemade clock to school and was arrested because a teacher thought it was a bomb? Well he, along with his family, suing the city of Irving (Texas) and its school district for $15 million and is looking for a bunch of apologies. The Mohamed family want $10 million from the city and $5 million from the school district of his former high school, MacArthur. Ironically enough right after they moved to Qatar. So right about now I feel like a real fucken idiot for supporting Ahmed Mohamed on Twitter with the hashtag #istandwithahmed. And I am guessing I am not the only one? Using racism as a way to do what you probably wanted to do anyway.
Albeit with more national attention and hopefully a $15 million payoff is fucken brilliant on his part. And the supposed “suffering” he experienced is getting a full scholarship at a prestigious school in Dubai. He took apart an existing clock & made it look “suspicious” on purpose to elicit a response & possibly knowing he might even be arrested. His sister was suspended for making bomb threats at her school. His family are part of a radical Islamic group, so the apple does not fall very far from the tree it seems. He and his family were such the faces of grace when this all went down, and now they look like the faces of greed. It’s very unsavoury and unfortunate.
There are certainly enough photos of him being spoiled with gifts and offers and generous invitations while looking like a beaming, excited kid, and videos of him on shows talking about how amazing this has all been. Ahmed never seemed the slightest bit traumatized. In fact, he seemed to enjoy every second of the media attention, and always appeared to be having a damn good time once the publicity machine began. This entire situation sickens me, because there are countless cases of horrible racism and attacks that go under the radar, and if they do come to light, people aren’t ransoming a city to the tune of $15 million. Well played Ahmed Mohamed you trolled us all and got away with it.
