The producers of the movie have been struggling to get the movie released in theaters due to a legal battle surrounding Outsource Media Group who pledged 25 million dollars in print and advertising to support a release of Odd Thomas in theathers. And another $10 million to partially refinance certain loans that they made. Several deadlines came and went, but most of the money never materialized, and that is were Odd Thomas has disappeared too stuck in financial limbo. But luckily for us they are looking to push it at the Cannes Film Festival, so they can find some financial backing for the movie.
They have cut together a short trailer for the movie to show off what they have, and from what I have seen it looks pretty good so far. Even Dean Koontz himself said: “I love the movie. I usually call up everybody I’ve met all my life and apologize for my relation with the film, but in this case, they have done a wonderful job.” The film stars Anton Yelchin, Addison Timlin, Willem Dafoe, Patton Oswalt, Curtis James Jackson III aka 50 Cent, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Nico Tortorella. Odd Thomas centers on a short-order cook named Odd Thomas (Yelchin) who can commune with the dead, a secret only his girlfriend (Timlin) and the local police chief (Dafoe) know.
